Boxing fans got some entertainment earlier today when boxing superstars Terence “Bud” Crawford and Danny “Swift” Garcia exchanged words over twitter  which gave fans some hope of seeing a fight between the two one day. Early Tuesday morning 140 pound champion Terence Crawford took to twitter to express his feelings towards Angel Garcia the father of 147 pound WBC champion Danny Garcia about video that was uploaded online late last month. In the video which was uploaded by FightHype, Angel Garcia is asked what he thought about Crawford’s previous bout with Viktor Postol. Angel Garcia responded by saying “Im not wasting my money on that” and HBO should quote “Be embarrassed”. He would later go on to say Crawford was a made up champion and the real champion (his son Danny) does not get any respect.

Early Monday morning Bud Crawford took twitter and told Danny Garcia directly “Yo dad said I’m a made up champion for beating the guy y’all was scared to fight”. Garcia responded by say “You doing what I did 3 years ago, I ain’t no little Gamboa or stiff Postal. I end careers check my track record”. The two would continue to go at each other through series of tweets with the 147 pound champion Garcia tweeting “Your fight did 50k buys lol if you wanna do real numbers and get defeated. Tell Bob to call Al”. Crawford came back  with something short and simple “no problem”.

With that said what do you guys think? Can this fight be made? Can Bob Arum and Al Haymon finally agree for a fight fans would love to see? I personally believe it can be done but find hard to believe it will because of how boxing politics still affect great fights from happening. The thought of Terence Crawford moving up to 147 pounds and challenging Danny Garcia for the WBC 147 pound title would be a fight I would choose to see over a match with Manny Pacquaio any day. Both champions both undefeated and both in their prime. My heart screams “Make the fight happen!” but my head screams back “Don’t waste your breathe”. You can read the back forth words between the two fighters on their twitter pages and the video of Angel Garcia on link below. Please let me know what you guys think thanks!!!

Bud Crawford proves why he is the best at 140 pounds with an unanimous decision over Postol. Pacquiao next?

After a slow start Terence “Bud” Crawford made easy work of Viktor Postol winning an unanimous decision Saturday night to become the undisputed junior welterweight champion at 140 pounds. Terrence seemed to take the first three rounds to figure out his opponent Viktor Postol before ultimately putting on a boxing clinic in front of a huge Las Vegas crowd at the MGM Grand. Going into Saturday night’s fight Crawford was the favorite in the sports books, however many boxing experiments had it as a 50/50 fight. With Postol height and power punching it was going to be interesting how the smaller Crawford would adapt and limit Postol punching power while finding his range. He made those adjustments using his southpaw stance and finding the proper range to utilize the power punches of Postol.

In the fifth round Crawford landed a left hand on the top of Postol’s head forcing he’s knee to touch the canvas and was ruled a knocked down. As the round continued the crowd erupted when Crawford landed another left hand wobbling Postol and forcing his glove to touch the canvas and causing a second knockdown. As the fight continued into the later rounds Crawford found his range tattooing Postol who seemed to be relying on one single shot. In the twelfth and final round Postol who was seeking for knockout after losing a point in the eleventh round for hitting behind the head, taunted Crawford into an exchange and Crawford was more than willing to. Landing shots which made Postol retreat, Crawford stuck his tongue out, grinned and waved his glove in the air as the crowd went crazy. Crawford went on to earn an unanimous decision victory being ahead on all three judges score cards 118-107, 118-107 and 117-108.

Going into the fight it had been speculated that if successful in victory, Crawford would line himself up for a PPV showdown in November with the great Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao who would be coming back from a brief retirement. When asked after the fight about the potential showdown with Pacquiao, Crawford told reporters “If thats what Bob Arum and my coaches want, than we will discuss it later”. A fight with Pacquiao would be huge for Crawford who is now closing in on the top 5 pound for pound list and could help set up bigger fights down the line. Crawford also mentioned if the fight does happen he will want Manny Pacquiao to drop down to the junior welterweight limit of 140 pounds and challenge him for his titles. This would be an interesting fight between two southpaws with one who is past his prime and the other who is barely entering his prime. Speed versus speed experience versus youth, Terence Crawford vs Manny Pacquiao is something boxing fans do not need but would love to see. The next few weeks should allow us to see how November will shape up!
